Bobcat Information

The bobcat (Lynx rufus) is a mammal of the Cat family. It is the smallest member of the lynx group, weighing 20-30 pounds. This animal is found only in North America and gets its name from its short, bobbed tail. The bobcat is found in a variety of habitats: woodlands, swamps, mountains. It occupies dens in crevices, rocks, or hollow trees. The bobcat has a whiskered face, a gray to brown coat with brown or black spots, large paws, and black-tufted ears. Bobcats can live in close proximity to people, but usually they are shy animals. There are one million bobcats in the United States alone.
